History and Establishment (1983 - 1987)

In 1983, the "Shree Gajanan Maharaj Prerana Mandal" was established to foster spiritual growth in the Nigdi area. Initially, a small shrine was built in the Shree Gajanan Maharaj Garden, where daily prayers and Aartis were conducted. As the community of devotees grew, the need for a larger, more formal institution became clear.

In 1987, the "Shree Gajanan Maharaj Mandir Charitable Trust" was officially registered, and the original Mandal was dissolved to make way for a professional governing body. The Trust began the construction of a permanent 16ft x 16ft sanctum with a traditional Shikhara, supported by a 40ft x 20ft assembly hall to accommodate the rising number of seekers.

On May 4, 1989, a 4-foot marble idol of Shree Gajanan Maharaj was consecrated by His Holiness Shri Shankaracharya of Karveer Pith. The event was attended by various dignitaries, including Dr. D.Y. Patil, and was preceded by a grand procession throughout the Pradhikaran area.

Expansion and Institutional Activities

Following the foundation, the Trust expanded its infrastructure to include a multi-story social facility. We acquired a 10-guntha plot in Sector 27 from the local authorities, which now houses a four-story building. This facility is home to our dedicated Study Center (Abhyasika), providing a peaceful environment for students preparing for UPSC and MPSC examinations.

Daily Spiritual Schedule

• Morning Aarti: Daily at 9:00 AM
• Evening Aarti: Daily at 7:00 PM
• Weekly Abhishek: Every Thursday at 9:30 AM
• Weekly Mahaprasad: Every Thursday, providing free meals to approximately 1,000 devotees.
• Ekadashi Services: Haripath, Kirtan, and Pravachans are held on every Ekadashi.

Social and Charitable Initiatives

The Trust is deeply committed to humanitarian work beyond religious activities. Our social welfare programs include:

• Medical Assistance: Providing financial aid for surgeries and treatments for underprivileged families.
• Healthcare Camps: Regular blood donation drives and health check-up clinics.
• Environmental Protection: Tree plantation drives and sustainability awareness in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area.
• Educational Support: Recognition and awarding of high-achieving local students (SSC/HSC).

Annual Festivals and Events

We celebrate several major festivals annually: 1) Pragat Din Mahotsav, 2) Mahashivratri (with Rudrabhishek), 3) Idol Consecration Anniversary (May 4th), 4) Guru Purnima, 5) Independence Day (Sanskrit Pathan), and 6) Rishi Panchami (Punyatithi of Maharaj).
